Presentation Honors 2008

Over one hundred and fifty alumnae, faculty, and Sisters of the Presentation gathered on January 27 for the first annual Presentation Honors.

This new event recognizes women who were either students or faculty members of Presentation High School, San Francisco, Presentation High School, Berkeley, and Our Lady of Loretto High School, Los Angeles.

These women are honored for embracing the Presentation values and education and contributing to their communities.

This year’s recipients included:

Dr. Cynthia LeBlanc, Presentation High School, Berkeley, Class of 1966, and Saint Columba Elementary School, Oakland, Class of 1962.  Dr. LeBlanc, now retired, had a distinguished career as a public school administrator, most recently serving as the interim Superintendent for the West Contra Costa Unified School District in Richmond, California.

Dr. Gloria Ricci Lothrop, Our Lady of Loretto High School, Los Angeles, Class of 1952.  Dr. Lothrop is the author of numerous books and is Professor Emerita and formerly the W.P. Whitsett chair in California History at California State University, Northridge.

Miss Bee Bedoni, Faculty, Presentation High School, San Francisco, from 1945 to 1991.  Miss Bee to generations of students, Miss Bedoni taught every physical education class and served as the head coach of every sport team for most of those years at the high school.

With nearly a full field of golfers, the day took place at the Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame.

The Tournament included the round of golf with lunch and then a tasty buffet dinner.

Awards for longest drive, closest to the pin, and top foursome were received at the dinner which also included a Silent Auction and a benefit drawing.

Alumnae Enjoy Magic Castle Event

Alumnae, family and friends had a magical day on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at the Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Guests enjoyed two magic shows, viewing exhibits and magic memorabilia, as well as an elaborate and delicious brunch buffet.

Due to the exclusive nature of the Castle, we were not able to take photographs in the club, but here are photos we snapped as guests were leaving.

Alumnae Scholarship Winners Honored With Donors At Founders Club Tea

Founders Club donors and recipients of the Alumnae Scholarships for the coming year were honored at the annual Founders Club Tea held at the Presentation Motherhouse, Sunday, August 26.

Truly a “Presentation family” event, the significant donors and the Alumnae Scholars both brought family members with them to share in the honors and to meet one another.

Mike Gatto, a long time Presentation supporter, was honored as the Founders Club 2007 Legacy Leader for his outstanding service to the Sisters of the Presentation.

As Sister Pam Chiesa, PBVM, President of the Sisters of the Presentation, said “our donors are truly our partners in ministry and we are very grateful for your support.”

In speaking of the Alumnae Scholarship winners, Sister Pam noted the history of Nano Nagle as an educator and her important role in preserving the Roman Catholic faith in Ireland.

“Our scholarship winners,” said Sister Pam, “come from families who believe in Catholic education and the Presentation Alumnae are happy and proud to support these families.”
